senior and the city

1) saw this ad in an edition of vancouver magazine:

"this very attractive and remarkably youthful, petite, 5'1", 60 year old brunette Gemini shimmers. with her sparkling wit, intelligence and enthusiasm, this open-minded, very social and highly educated world traveler is sure to dazzle. this well lauded senior executive and entrepreneur is seeking an intelligent, interesting, active and open-minded partner who is ready and willing to seize the day."

my thoughts:
a) this is a very well-written advert
b) this could be me in 30 years
c) i do not want to be in an advert in 30 years
d) this lady sounds so interesting and so potentially me in 30 years, i want to answer the ad, interview her, learn from her how to be so interesting, and also see how to prevent myself from being in such advert in 30 years

2) there was a big lady in the pool today, around 60 too. for the 25 minutes we were in the pool together, i stopped a few times to catch my breath. she never did. not once. she swam the front crawl and was really quite fast for her size and age. i caught a glance from time to time to keep up with her progress, impressed. she stopped finally and climbed out of the pool, and started to make conversation as i reached for the end. she did 80 laps, she said, without stopping. "i knew if i stopped i wouldn't start again," she chuckled.

she's recovering from chemotherapy, and she took off her swim cap to show me the shaved silver hair. ovarian cancer caught early. she's sticking to her weekly workout routine (swimming twice, gym three times) so she can lose some weight and build up stamina for her trip to india this march, "all the famous places! the taj mahal!"

i didn't ask her name but i'm sure i'll see her at the pool again. like her hair, this lady was glowing with optimism. almost shiny =)

okay, i instantaneously thought of your "my thoughts" as I read. And GOD, I don't want to be in an advert EVER, even if it's a well written one. But sadly, I might have to auction myself on eBay one day, if I keep sitting in my car and at laptop instead of meeting people!
