miracles do happen! after finding out about dad's retirement and worrying slightly about him being at home all the time and nagging me about my room and eating/sleeping habits, i casually suggested that he make creative use of his time and take a cooking class. wonder of all wonders, two days later, when i finally got off on time at 6 and came home for dinner for the first time in two weeks, i found my own father in an apron and in full command of our kitchen. as it turned out, he googled and enrolled himself in a very fancy culinary studio in the neighborhood. so that night, he made us a 4-course french meal. mom and auntie helped as i set the table and opened a bottle of white. it was the funnest family time i've had in a long while.
do not know actual french names for these things so i will not try to be cultured:

appetizer: assorted veggie things with
vinegrette dressing

appetizer served on plate

potato soup

baked salmon wrapped in bacon served on
mashed potatoes; not the prettist-looking
main course but very yummy.

strawberry crepe (this is a collaborative effort.
dad chopped the strawberries, granny made
the crepes, i made the sauce)
this is SO not helping me lose weight. but oh well...my dad rocks!
