sweetheart,

for the rest of my life i will remember the day when you held my hand in that crappy coffee shop in the bangkok mall, with tears streaming down your face, telling me that our lives would take on different paths from this point on and it hurt you to see me going on mine. that was a little over a year ago.

when i saw you again in hong kong for our girls-who-eat-excessively weekend, things were a lot different. we were both lost in our paths, nothing was certain. we were looking for solid ground, waiting for the fog to clear.

and now as we reunite, a little older, a little more weary but also a little wiser, even (gasp!) mature, the future seems more filled with light, you and i more confident that things will be ok for us, after all. it's a big big world with infinite possibilities. you ask me how i would sum up my year, i tell you that you never know what's waiting for you around the corner. you'll be ok. i'll hold your hand. no tears this time =)
