the true test to see if one has become nonchalant to the luxurious material life is a trip to hong kong. starting out with the mindset to re-familiarize myself with the global high-end fashion world, i walked through only 1/4 of lane crawford at ifc today before deciding it was a waste of my time. even only with the eyes to appreciate the refined design, hand feel, and workmanship (as opposed to the heart to desire), i was so instantly bored i surprised myself. i then proceeded to zara, where nothing caught my attention except work clothes i don't need, and then eventually at h&m where i bought green hair accessories and a pair of fuchsia pants that cost less than my lunch and cappuccino.
am very very happy with myself. look fabulous in fuchsia pants.
also am spending quality time with brother and catching up on each other's lives, very cool. as we age we see each other less but have connected better, and begin to appreciate the common values that we hold thanks to our wonderful open-minded and supportive parents. we share with each other weird things we encounter in life, and agree that there are a lot more wacky and wacked people out there than we were brought up to believe. it does feel good be on the same side, i find lately. i love the camaraderie.
heading to bangkok in two days. it's been almost 2 years since i was there last, under very different circumstances. as i told 38 today, our lives are more exciting than ever with a very updated set of definitions, and it is with that mindset i visit that city for the first time to see it as it is.

i know what you mean about the comraderie business. :) very well put!
My bro and I have always shared a kind of humor that no one else can understand. It was also this humor that instantly bonded us after months of separation.
Yay for the fuchia pants! do wear them when I see you!
Call me first thing when you land!
