Moment of Sentimentality
Special people come into our lives, at certain pivotal times, to remind us what life is about, show us what life can be, or simply serve as a mirror image of ourselves. They may happen for a glimpse, or stay longer, or become a part of our lives forever. It may not always be obvious why or how they appear, and you don't even know what it is about them that touches a deep, hidden part of you. And the way you connect is sometimes so strong yet subtle that it confuses you whether it even exists at all, or perhaps is merely a figment of self-serving imagination.
Then they help you through, maybe, a difficult time, or hold your hand when it's not so clear where life is taking you. You hope in turn you give a little something back to them. That you leave a mark, a trace in their lives that they'll think back on in solitude, with mixed feelings. But most importantly, no regrets.
I learn finally that some words are better left unsaid. And you were right. It can be quite a terrifying thing to say goodbye.
I am listening to your favorite songs under the dim light. My chest tightens a bit and eyes tear up. I know why you like them. This is, I guess, what they call bittersweet.
