The cutest thing happened at dinner as I was reading KC's cards. This little Japanese girl came over to our table, flashed a big smile on her chubby little face adorned with typical Japanesey crescent eyes, and looked as if an angel had descended into Jake's Country Kitchen of all places. We asked her name in Japanese, and she replied a very happy "Mii-chan!" That's just like MY NAME (sort of)! And then we asked her how old she was, and she said "Yon-sai da-you," making a four sign with her fingers. Before she left she shook our hands and gave us both two kisses. She was just the sweetest most cherubic little thing in a red dress. A truly happy creature.
I wish all the kids in the world were like her, filled with love, optimism and curiosity. And I'm reminded that this is our most original genuine form, and it would be a blessing to remain in such state for as long and often as possible. Lately I've started to feel like this again as I've strayed from what's normally perceived as "reality" and resorted to a life what some might consider as a total failure (don't believe me? I'm an English teacher learning to become a witch.....see??) But I feel I'm happier, more loving, and more creative than I've felt in years. I feel I'm growing backwards sometimes; I'm beginning to look at everything with a fresher, less-tainted take. It's liberating.
The other thought of the evening: perhaps it's time to breed.
