small pleasures

my first ever monocle magazine as it is expensive. but i bought it because it's the end of the year, and at the end of the year you buy magazines that say "2008, the year things turned shitty and a black dude became president" or "the 2009 global forecast." as a person who is looking to the future, i bought the latter. and because i like the color combinations on the cover. graphic design is important.

my monthly staple. must buy. can't live without it. the magazine about shopping. it offers me psychological satisfaction just to look at it. very essential and value-for-money purchase in times of economic hardship.

because i went to a talk at the bookstore by the digital ad guy from ogilvy. and because it was on sale. and because i actually want to know what goes on in the heads of advertising people. even if all they do is lie.

his words soothe me because i can actually hear them spoken in my head, in his voice. it's warm and comforting, unpretentiously elegant.

i've never bought (myself) a desk calender but i couldn't resist. it says "sneaky ways for slacking off!" (and this is when i wish my boss didn't read my blog). a fun little game and doodle for EVERYDAY of 2009!!! i have to exercise physical self-control not to tear it open and start playing NOW. such a dork, haha.

bought little magnet clips for my cubicle. must admit this was an impulsive purchase, and i don't REALLY need them. oh well, just trying to keep my life organized...

the bookstore gave me free gifts for buying too much stuff.
