back to reality

i left san francisco at 1:45am, september 4, thus concluding my month+ long grand tour of the north american pacific coast. i can officially say now that i have covered the coastline on land from whistler down to san diego, yippee.

it's been a month of pure joy and fun, with very minimal self-reflection or analysis as regular visitors to this blog would agree. and that felt very very liberating. i'd do the occasional odd thing to check the blog wishing someone had written in something for me, but i suppose that would be scary if someone did. anyway, i'm happy to be back.

here is how august went down:

quality family & friend time in san jose. more quality family & friend time in LA. saw my friend J and her baby/my goddaughter LeighAnne (LA), most beautiful baby in the world. the olympics, mad opening ceremony, mad phelps, gymnats, divers, bolt. swimming as inspired by phelps, tanning on laguna beach, art fair and cuban night at hollywood bowl, santa monica & 3rd street promenade x 2. forever 21 visits x 10, vancouver & heavenly cuisine, bridesmaid dress shopping with girls, a lot of alcohol, missed fishing trip. road trip with monkeys, sea lions, motels, black names (moesha), running up the sand dune, wine tasting at napa. monterey school visit. 8 hr shopping spree. wedding at half moon bay. fun times in physical form.

and now up at 7am on saturday, i'm unpacking, researching for a translation piece for sotheby's impressionist auction, and preparing myself for a job interview at lunch. i feel hopeful, excited, and in control of my life. time to step out of slow mo, and fast forward it up.
